2Baba formerly known as 2face Idibia, real name Innocent Ujah has been an household name in the Nigerian music scene since his inception in the Nigerian entertainment scene in the early 2000’s through the group, Plantashun Boyz consisting of himself, Blackface and Faze. A group which disbanded in 2004 and saw three of them pursue solo careers.
It is not often that band mates break up and it works out better for them in the music industry but for 2Baba, it has been the breakthrough success story of his career. Months after the break-up, 2Baba Idibia released his debut solo album ‘Face 2 Face’ that same year, which established him as a viable solo artist.
2Baba joined the Kennis music record label in 2005, where he released his hot song – African queen in 2006. African queen remains the best-selling 2Baba song of all time; the song made it to the top of music billboards worldwide and was the sound track of famous American movie- Phat Girls.
In 2007 , Plantashun Boyz came together briefly to record an album titled – “Plan B” , Tuface also released a promotional album in 2008 , which happens to be a single album titled “Enter the place” . In 2009, Tuface became the first Nigerian to release an internationally priced album titled “Unstoppable”.
Upon leaving the music label Kennis Music in 2008, he set up his own record label known as Hypertek Entertainment. He was also part of the Sony All African One8 Project alongside seven other musicians across Africa recording a single with R. Kelly and Prince Lee titled “Hands across the World”. He is the first non-Liberian to become an honorary member of the Liberian music society in recognition for his outstanding contribution to the growth of music in Africa. He has been named Red Cross ambassador society of Nigeria. 2face has several collaborations all over the globe, giving his collaborators the opportunity to win awards for each duet such as street credibility by 9ice, possibility by p-square and lots more. He is adored by his colleagues and every entertainer in Nigeria music industry as a role model.
2Baba also enjoyed a remarkable 2014, dropping his 6th studio album, The Ascension which made its way to the top of iTunes Nigeria in no time. He teamed up with the Kenny Ogungbe-led Kennis Music to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of his debut album as a solo artiste.
He has since dropped six albums, Face to Face(2004), Grace to Grace(2006), The Unstoppable(2008), The Unstoppable International Edition(2010) as well as Away & Beyond and The Ascension in 2012 and 2014 respectively.
2Baba has shown no signs of relaxing any time soon as he has consistently been releasing good songs like Coded tinz featuring Phyno and Chief Obi, Babylon featuring M.I Abaga, Officially blind, Mr Senator, and most recently Holy Holy, an ode to Blackface, his former band member who has constantly attacked him and every other person who has person forming like they know it all.
